ABSTRACT:  The researchers attempted to find the answers to the following questions: do gender biases exist in local television commercials? And what are the different perceptions of Senior Miriam College Students towards gender biased commercials? The general objective of the study was to determine whether young television viewers do perceived that gender biases do exist in local television commercials and specifically, to determine the perceptions of Senior Miriam College students concerning gender biases in local tv commercials and to determine the effects of these biases towards them. The subjects were chosen by the respondents from Communication Arts, Psychology, Accounting, International Studies and Business Administration students, and were given questionnaires. A total of sixty respondents were chosen from the fourth year level. Random sampling was used for this study to be able to gather data. The study used descriptive research to facilitate the researchers to come up with the findings accurately. The findings show that majority of the respondents feel that gender biases do exist in local television commercials, and most of the respondents were not totally affected by these biases. These maybe because of the awareness, culture and education that Miriam College has concerning issues on gender. The researchers recommend that further studies may be done on the whole College unit, and not only the Senior level, it is also recommended that studies should be conducted in different sectors of society.
