ABSTRACT:  This research presents through a 20-minute document the children's perceptions of the volcanic eruption, their reactions and behaviors of Mt. Pinatubo. Their ages range from 8-12 years old. They were residents of Santa Barbara, bicolor, Pampanga, 80 kilometers away from Mt. Pinatubo. They were selected from among the evacuees who were housed in a public school building in San Fernando, Pampanga, at the time the study was conducted. The respondents were limited to twenty (20). They were asked to draw in 8' x 10' white papers what the could remember from the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. The children and how they felt about it. The results of the interview and drawings show that the children were greatly affected by the calamity. They experienced fear, withdrawal, and anxiety which are not typical feelings of a child which is clinically termed as 'emotional constriction." However, there was also some drawings of the children which show that they were coping with the unpleasant experiences. There were drawings that show positive outlook which may mean that they are hopeful of the future. When asked if they dream of the eruption, some answered in the negative. Not dreaming about it may mean that their minds are stable or they have already forgotten the incident. In the light of this situation, these children must be given special attention and care both at home and at school. They should be given clinical therapy so as to really ensure that they are coping and not bothered with the unpleasant experience. They should be given necessary counseling, guidance, or treatment so that they would grow up with healthy hearts and minds.
